Erik Lund, professor of music composition at the University of Illinois, is a composer of acoustic and electroacoustic music, and an active improviser (trombone). He composes music as analogies and commentaries, usually born of ideas and sources that are not inherently musical. His compositions have won several awards, and have been commissioned and/or performed by ensembles including the Arditti String Quartet (UK), Crash Ensemble (Ireland), Wolpe Trio (Germany), Fidelio Trio (Ireland), Orchestra Giovanile Italiana (Italy), Tone Road Ramblers (USA), mise-en (USA), Jupiter String Quartet (USA) and C2 Duo (USA), as well as by notable soloists.
